  • What Kind of Books do You Write
I write both Fiction and Non-Fiction books about dogs, thrillers, suspenseful romance, motivational, self-help, books on anxiety and depression and also have notebooks, dog and cat baby books and a book on quotes!
  • Do Use Artificial Intelligence to Write Books?
No. I'm not against AI for ideas, but I enjoy getting my personal emotions on the page and when I look back and read something I've written, I want to know that it was all my idea. However, I do use AI for cover images. I find that they look more professional and I'll never claim to be an artist, although I wish that I was!
  • Where can I buy Your Books?
All My books are available on Amazon.com!
  • How Long Does it Take you to Write a Book?
I am a fast writer. Most of the time, I won't start to write a book unless I have a clear idea of what I want to say. Once I get the full picture in my head, the writing flows effortlessly. I've written some books in as little as two weeks. Others, like The Light at the End of the Tunnel took me over four years go write. Keep in mind, that was during the pandemic when the world shut down. I had lost a bit of motivation with all of the uncertainty that had been circulating. For most books, I can write 200-300 pages within a month.
  • Do you write Fiction Dog Books or Non-Fiction Dog Books?
I write both! I find that each fiction book demonstrates a dog's personality. I enjoy writing Non-Fiction Dog Books to either give tips I've learned throughout my journey with dogs, or share heartwarming stories that other dog lovers can relate to. I've categorized them on my blog. You can either go to www.elizabeth-parker.com Home page to see all genres, or visit https://www.elizabeth-parker.com/post/dog-books-for-dog-lovers to see all books for dogs lovers.
  • What does it mean to be an Independent Author
Many writers these days choose to become an Independent Author as you don't have to find an agent. In order to go the traditional publishing route, you first need an agent and they submit your book to publishers. By being an independent author, one can publish their books on their own. There are many platforms to publish on, but I use Amazon. A lot goes into Independent publishing, so it's not as simple as it sounds. Writing the book is only part of it, but I also edit it, create my own covers, design my own web page, copyright my book, market and advertise my book and schedule all book signings. If there was one con about independent publishing, it's that I can't just sit and write books and then leave the rest to someone else. After my book is written, the job has only just begun!
  • How do you think of ideas to write?
When I write books about dogs, the topic comes easily. For my non-fiction dog books, my dogs supply me with all the material I need. Sometimes I write funny dog books. Other times, my dog books are a bit more serious. For my fiction dog books, I think about events that are happening or have happened, and create an ending I'd like to see happen instead. My thrillers are a bit different. Some ideas just come to me out of the blue. Others, like Unwanted Dreams, actually come to me in dreams! They are a little more difficult to write and a little more exhausting. I have to try to get into the mind of a sociopath or psychopath, while also getting into the mind of the victim. But, I enjoy writing them. The rest of my books are fiction mixed with advice or lessons I've learned on my own. I find incorporating that into my books is an effective way to share knowledge if I can.
